5 causes of burnout and how to avoid it.
The causes of burnout might seem obvious.. too much work, right? Doh. But, in fact, while workload is obviously a major contributing factor, it’s a little more complex than that. In addition to workload here are 4 more causes. Lack of control One of the biggest causes...
Freelancing: the good, the bad and the ugly.
whether you are self-employed or not, we all need to learn to look after ourselves as well as we look after others. This might mean negotiating a fairer deal for ourselves at work, or requiring other members of our family to take a fairer share of the load at home.
Why emotional agility is far more powerful than ‘positive thinking’.
Everyone has negative thoughts and emotions. But what’s the best way to deal with these?
Sometimes we hear people saying things like ‘turn that frown upside down’ or no ‘negative vibes here’….

Now I don’t know about you, but that does somewhat make me cringe, even after all the work I’ve done. It just feels too much, and I can already hear my Inner Troll laughing sarcastically.
Confidence doesn’t come from ‘fake it til you make it’.
Some people teach that developing self confidence is about learning to pretend to be self confident until eventually you are. ‘Fake it ‘til you make it’.
How to ask for what you want, say no when you need to, and live more authentically.
Assertiveness is the ability to say how we feel and/or ask for what we want when we choose to. Many people struggle with being more assertive generally, while others only find it an issue in certain situations or with certain people.
Why we often struggle with self-compassion
Self-compassion is about treating yourself as well as you would treat a good friend, rather than in a way you would never do to anyone else. It’s pretty clear this isn’t helpful, so why is it so hard to stop?
