Teaching Business Sustainability Review.

In my session at TESOL Spain, we explored the professional story many teachers absorb about work: the idea that commitment means always giving more.

For freelancers and independent teachers, that story can quietly shape the way we design our work – often leading to businesses that rely heavily on our time and energy.

If that conversation resonated with you, you may find it useful to reflect a little more closely on the structure of your own teaching business.

That’s what this short Teaching Business Sustainability Review is designed to help you do.

The review focuses on a few key questions:

  • Where most of your income currently comes from

  • How dependent your work is on your time

  • Where the pressure in your business may be coming from

  • Whether your current model is designed to sustain you long term

It takes about 3–4 minutes to complete.

Personal video feedback

From the submissions, I will select 10–15 teaching businesses where I feel I can offer the most useful perspective.

For those selected, I’ll record a short personalised video review sharing:

  • what I notice about the current structure of your work

  • where the main pressure points may be coming from

  • the type of structural shift that might make the biggest difference

This won’t be a full consultation, but it should give you a helpful outside perspective on your current model.

This review tends to be most helpful for freelance language professionals who recognise one or more of these patterns:

  • Your schedule is very full, but your income still feels limited

  • Your work depends heavily on teaching hours

  • You’re beginning to explore more sustainable ways of structuring your work

If you’d like to reflect a little further on the design of your teaching business, you’re very welcome to complete the short review below.

It should only take a few minutes.

I’ll be reviewing submissions over the next couple of weeks and selecting 10–15 businesses for personalised feedback.

There is also a link in the form for a further free Business Models Guide, to help you identify which type of business model could work best for you at your current stage of business.
