MAKING A DECENT LIVING AS A FREELANCE PUBLISHING PROFESSIONAL IS ABOUT MORE THAN YOUR WRITING OR EDITING SKILLS.

KNOWING WHEN AND HOW TO NEGOTIATE IS A KEY SKILL WHICH VERY FEW FREELANCERS FEEL CONFIDENT ABOUT.

THE STARTING POINT IS RECOGNISING YOUR EXISTING STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES, OR UNDERSTANDING …..

Your Negotiating Self.

When my daughter was little and just starting to speak, whenever she was offered something nice like a biscuit, she would smile winningly, and ask, ‘Two?’  ‘She’ll go far’ we said, admiring her knack for negotiation…

But as we get older, conducting a successful negotiation tends to be about more important things than biscuits.

We may feel we have less power in the situation, or more to lose.

And, as a result, very few freelance publishing professionals I meet actively LIKE negotiating, and many avoid it altogether, leading to more and more situations where they are over-worked and under-paid.

I can teach you strategies and tactics to negotiate more successfully, but, before you can do that, you need to understand your negotiating self better, so you can build on your strengths and minimize your weaknesses.

Curious?

For a limited time, I’m giving you a sneak peek of this lesson, taken from my upcoming course for publishing freelancers, on Pricing, Negotiating and Getting Paid.

Hi, I’m Rachael.

There are lots of things I’ve loved about my long ELT career, but one of the things I don’t like is the way that so many excellent professionals are underpaid, undervalued and scraping by.

I also far too often see people working themselves into the ground. This might be OK when we’re in our early twenties with no responsibilities, but it’s no way to run a sustainable and enjoyable professional career.

I want to really challenge the low expectations, and culture of ‘having to’ accept poor conditions and teach ELT freelancers the steps they can take to make their businesses truly work for them.

I have:

⭐ 30 years of experience in the industry
⭐ 15 years as a successful small ELT business owner
⭐ CELTA and DELTA teacher trainer and creator of dozens of published courses, which means I can help you design your programme to perfectly fit your clients
⭐ heaps of training and coaching in running a small business, organic marketing and social media, copywriting and more
…..as well as being a trained psychotherapist, counsellor, and coach.

This makes me ideally placed to empower freelance ELT professionals to custom design their businesses so they can earn more, work less, and live more fully.

And that’s what it’s all about.
